TOP AWARD FOR WEST LOTHIAN ENGINEERS

A West Lothian engineering firm have scooped a prestigious award for quality and efficiency.

Livingston-based Robbie Fluid Engineering (RFE) were recently awarded ISO 9001 certification, which highlights their commitment to quality, customers, and a willingness to work towards improving efficiency.

RFE is a family-owned company formed in 2006, with help from the council’s Business Gateway Service. They specialise in producing fluid power and engineering products, including valves, tubing, hoses and fittings, and supply a variety of clients throughout Scotland, including large manufacturers, the high technology sector and even the council’s own fleet of bin lorries.

Executive councillor for development and transport, Martyn Day, visited the firm’s Houstoun Industrial Estate headquarters recently, to congratulate them on their achievement and see their work first-hand.

Councillor Day said: “Congratulations to RFE in receiving this accreditation. It demonstrates that the company has an effective quality management system that satisfies the rigours of an independent, external audit.

“This is a significant achievement for a relatively young business, and is another fantastic example of a homegrown firm making a success of a specialist niche in the market.”

RFE is forecasting to grow annual sales beyond £1 million, and currently employs eight staff, with plans to create more jobs in the medium-term.
